The aftercare of your teambuilding day

Anyone organising a team building knows that a lot of time goes into the preparations: finding a suitable date, looking for an original team building concept, finding a suitable event location, and so on.

But what do you do once the team building activity has taken place? There are still a number of things to be sorted out before the event can really be concluded.

Keep the memories alive

A photo or video report keeps the participants surfing on the positive feeling they experienced during the team building event. You can share these pictures through the intranet or Facebook, but it is also nice to create a wall of fame; the most beautiful and original event pictures framed. After all, nothing is more fun than browsing through the craziest photo moments or video clips and just reminiscing when the actual team building day is over.

Think about hiring a professional photographer or video crew, or at least provide a few cameras for the participants.

Measuring, evaluating and debriefing

The importance of a good evaluation of your team building day should not be underestimated. This evaluation measures the success of your team event. At the same time, an evaluation is crucial in order to organise your next teambuilding successfully.

Evaluate both the internal operation, the suppliers and the satisfaction of the participants.

Internal evaluation

In some companies there is a person (or team) dedicated to the organisation of team building and company outings. In other companies, the team building day is prepared by a party committee. In both cases it is important to evaluate with the internal stakeholders whether everything went smoothly, both in preparation, execution and aftercare.

Evaluation of the suppliers

During a team building day several suppliers work together: the events agency, the location, the caterer, etc. Did these suppliers work according to the agreements made and their offers?

Satisfaction of the participants

Don’t wait too long to sound out the participants’ feedback. The ideal moment is the morning after the team building day. Sound out their satisfaction with the various aspects of the event, such as the practical parameters (date, timing, location, etc.), the catering and of course the nature of the team building activities.

Announce your evaluation in advance. Let the participants know that an evaluation will be held after the team building day.

File everything!

Keep all documents, scripts and quotations in the archive. Every event provides a certain experience and you learn new things from every event. These experiences, positive and negative, will help you to organise the next team building day quickly and professionally.

Thank you to all staff, participants and suppliers

Send a thank-you note to all the people who helped organise your team building day. A “thank you” doesn’t take much effort and is always appreciated. And so you can look forward to your next team building day!
